About Us

Our Mission, Values, History, Amenities, and FAQ

Keep Live Music Live. We champion original artistry, fair pay for musicians, honest pours, and a come‑as‑you‑are atmosphere. Whether you’re front‑row for a touring act or nursing a Lone Star at the bar, you’re part of the Dan Electro’s family.

Our Story — From 1988 to Today

Live music performance with guitarist and bassist in dim lighting

Opened in 1988 inside a low‑slung Heights warehouse, Dan Electro’s began as a gritty guitar bar where Houston’s blues heavyweights came to trade licks after hours. Over the decades the stage has hosted legends, from Stevie Ray Vaughan and Billy Gibbons to touring acts who popped in unannounced, earning a reputation in the Heights area. A 2022 facelift under new local owners kept the neon and soul intact while upgrading sound and hospitality for a new generation of fans.

Meet the Crew

Who makes the magic happen?

Owner - Shaun Brennan

Shaun Brennan is the founder of Houston’s indie label Splice Records, co‑owner of the historic Heights venue Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar, and the driving force behind the River Revival Retreat and its sister River Retreat festivals. For more than a decade he has championed Texas songwriters and genre‑blurring bands, releasing vinyl, curating intimate shows, and transforming riverside campsites into unforgettable music communities. Shaun’s mission is simple: unite people through authentic, home‑grown music experiences—whether on stage, on wax, or floating down the Guadalupe.

Will Thomas - Co-Owner

A former corporate attorney, Will translates years of contract and compliance work into smooth, artist‑friendly deals for Dan Electro’s. He handles the legal fine print so the team can focus on music, and he develops partnerships that keep the venue growing without red tape.

Alex Jackson - Co-Owner

With a background in real estate redevelopment, Alex has a knack for turning square footage into memorable spaces. His long‑term property strategy ensures every corner of Dan Electro’s feels welcoming to both touring bands and neighborhood regulars.

General Manager - Chase Yackley

Chase Yackley, the engine behind Dan Electro’s daily rhythm, blends a decade of venue management with his passion for live music. He fine‑tunes every detail, from artist bookings to late‑night soundchecks, ensuring the Heights landmark stays welcoming, well‑run, and always tuned for live music.

Marketing Manager - Mikey Drag

Mikey Drag is a Houston‑based DJ, multi‑instrumentalist, and front‑man of garage‑rock outfit Mikey & The Drags, the mod‑leaning band he launched in 2012 to channel fuzzy ’60s pop energy Concert Archives. Their cult‑favorite LP Make You Mine (2015) cemented his reputation for hook‑heavy organ riffs and dance‑floor grit Mikey And The Drags.

When he’s off the mic, Mikey keeps the city moving behind the decks—spinning everything from surf and psych to ’90s alt at themed nights like Axelrad’s “’90s Rock Night” 365 Things to Do in Houston and curating vinyl‑only sets for Dan Electro’s crowd‑pleasing “Dad Rock Day” and other throw‑back parties Instagram. Expect crate‑diggers’ gems, pure energy, and an open invitation to hit the floor.

Website Development - David Rogan

David Rogan is a hospitality insider turned digital strategist. After running the bar during Dan Electro’s early‑2023 relaunch, he moved behind the keyboard, building the venue’s website and shaping its online voice. Now an independent consultant, David blends firsthand floor experience with clean code and sharp SEO to connect Dan Electro’s live‑music energy to fans everywhere. His devotion to live music and homegrown talent fuels his constant refinement and reinvention of Dan Electro’s digital presence for the years ahead.

Ticketing Partner - Brad Wickwire

Brad Wickwire is the founder and owner of Stubwire.com, the independent ticketing platform that powers Dan  Electro’s box office. A software developer by training, he launched Stubwire in 2010 to give grassroots venues big‑league tools such as real‑time sales analytics, mobile scanning, and low‑fee checkouts. Based in Oklahoma City, Brad still codes new features himself and drives to Texas shows to gather feedback directly from fans in line. His mission is simple: make buying and selling tickets painless so venues like Dan Electro’s can stay focused on live music. LinkedInbbb.org
